Scottish Rite Bodies in CT are aligned under the CT Council of Deliberation. This site is a clearing house for information and links to Scottish Rite activities in CT.
The Connecticut Council of Deliberation is comprised of various representatives of the Scottish Rite bodies in CT. Those members include:
- Active, Active Emeriti, Honorary Members of Connecticut
- Past Commanders-in-Chiefs of Consistories
- Past Presiding Officers of the subordinate Valleys
- The first three elected officers of the subordinate Bodies plus any other elected officers
- Meritorious Service Award members.
It is presided over by the Deputy, who is the ex-officio Commander-in-Chief.
The Council meets annually, usually in June, at a location selected by the
Host Valley. Each Valley acts as Host on a five year rotating basis. Special meetings may be called by the Deputy, due notice having been given to the Members.
The Council has legislative and judicial powers in the State that are not reserved specifically to the Supreme Council, and are consistent with the Supreme Council Constitutions.
At the Annual Meeting, the Council receives reports from the various Committees as stated in the Rules and Regulations. In addition, reports are presented by any other Committees appointed by the Deputy for action by the Council. It also establishes the minimum annual dues for subordinate Bodies in the State, as well as the per capita fee to support the Council.
The Council of Deliberation acts on all petitions for Dispensations and Charters within the State.
The Meritorious Service Award recipients are announced and the Award conferred at the Annual Meeting upon members of the Rite in Connecticut who have attained the 32nd degree and who have by reason of meritorious service of a Masonic character are deemed worthy of such recognition. The Presiding Officers of each Valley present one nomination per Valley in writing thru the Chairman of the M.S.A. Committee to the Council who they feel is most worthy to receive this Award.
The Council of Deliberation adopts the Strategic Plan as promulgated by the Supreme Council for modification and implementation by each Valley.
